AIR FRYER DONUTS
Although I have never been quite sure why we eat donuts for breakfast since they are essentially a sugary dessert, I can’t deny my kids donuts for breakfast every now and then. Since starting Keto, Steve and I have loved using our air-fryer for all different types of recipes. When I found a recipe for air-fryer donuts, I had to try it out!
I was not expecting them to turn out well at all. Sometimes you gotta set your standards lower when you are trying something new, just incase it doesn't workout. But I was completely surprised at how well these donuts turned out! I mean, just an air fryer and some canned biscuits, how much easier can it get??
Plus the kids loved getting to dip the hot donuts on chocolate, roll them in powdered or cinnamon sugar and top them with sprinkles. Libbie Summers has some of the cutest sprinkles for decorating any dessert and any occasion, plus you can even have them custom made! Because although not all of the donuts looked perfect, adding some chocolate and sprinkles covered any imperfection and made each donut look like it could be in the window of a pastry shop!
We even took the donut holes and fried those up to make some donut holes to snack on while we decorated the donuts. I tell myself it is healthier to eat the donut holes, but I am pretty sure that is a trap because I always eat too many…but they were delicious so I don’t even feel bad about it.
AIR FRYER DONUTS
1 tube of biscuits (tube with 5 biscuits)
1 ½ cups of powdered sugar
¼ cups of cocoa powder
¼ cups of milk
1tsp. Of almond milk
Red and green sprinkles (optional)
1- Open up the can of biscuits. Use a bottle top to poke a hole in the middle of the biscuits. Set in air fryer for four minutes and turn the temp to 350. Take the biscuits out and flip ton each side. Cook for 2 to 4 minutes longer at the same temperature.
2- While the donuts are cooking, make the glaze. In a small to medium size bowl, add the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk and vanilla extract. Stir until the powdered sugar and cocoa powder turn into a thick glaze.
3- If desired, mix equal parts sugar and cinnamon to coat for cinnamon sugar donuts.
4- Take the biscuits out of the air fryer and dip into the chocolate glaze. Set them on a cooling rack to set. Enjoy!
