LILY'S FIRST MAKEUP

unspecified-4.jpg

My sweet Lily is starting high school this year and mentioned a few weeks ago that she might be interested in starting to wear a little bit of makeup. It's official, my baby is growing up *cue the tears*. Though naturally this does induce ALL THE EMOTIONS, I was really excited to be able to work with her and help her learn the right ways to wear makeup. You know - spare her from the thick eyeliner, intense eyeshadow, and other terrible makeup choices we all made when we were her age!

Amidst all the back-to-school preparation, we set out on a perfect girls day trip to Nordstrom where Lily and I sat down with a Bobbi Brown makeup consultant who taught her all the ways to keep makeup application natural and light.

For those of you wondering why I went this route instead of taking her to Target or drug store. Well for one, I wanted her to learn proper application and to get advice from a makeup professional on the proper application. I also wanted her to try a few of the trusted products I have used myself over the years even if that meant spending a few extra bucks.

You guys should've seen her...she was BEAMING from ear to ear in that chair. She felt so pretty and so confident. Exactly what she should be feeling like as she enters into this new chapter at high school.

We decided to stick with the basics: foundation, mascara, lipstick, and a light matte eye pallet. I did throw in a bronzer/highlighter pallet because that's what girls her age are all about right now. But her day to day will be a light and simple makeup routine. I'm choking back happy tears when I say...Lily is all set and ready to walk those high school hallways feeling fresh, confident, and B-E-A-utiful.

One Happy Mama
