TAKE YOUR SUMMER DRESS STRAIGHT INTO FALL

When I asked for fall content ideas on Instagram the other day, I got so many requests for fall fashion ides.  You ladies ask, Landy delivers.  I really want to show you guys that dressing for fall does not require you to necessarily buy a ton of new pieces.  You can shop your own closet and rework your favorite pieces from summer and bring them straight into fall.  Would you believe me if I told you I only had to buy two new pieces- a utility jacket and a scarf- to make up these two different looks?  Yep!  I have been wanting a utility jacket for a long time, so I stopped by Nordstrom the other day to check them out.  They had an awesome assortment of not only great lightweight jackets for fall, but also tons of other great transitional pieces to help you extend the life of your summer clothes.

Do you guys remember my favorite black Michael Stars dress that I got at the very beginning of summer?  I love this dress and practically live in it.  It is such a great basic and is flattering on lots of different body types thanks to the ruching.  I was a little sad to think that I was going to have to say good-bye to it for the fall and winter, but guess what, now I don't have to.  I want to show you guys how to take this little black dress from running around town doing errands to a date night with the hubby just by changing out the jacket and the shoe.

I don't really wear a lot of olive green and that is a very popular color for utility/anorak style jackets.  I was so excited when I found this gorgeous slate gray one at Nordstrom.  It is so lightweight and perfect for over a dress or layered over a long sleeve shirt and jeans when the fall weather starts to turn a little cooler.  Seriously, if you are going to buy one piece for fall get your booty over to Nordstrom and check this one out.

For my day look I wanted to pair the dress with a little bit of a chunkier sandal.  You guys know I have worn these shoes to death since I go them.  They are actually a perfect transition shoe for fall because they are suede.  They are seriously so comfortable once you break them in.  For sure my favorite shoe of summer.

For my nighttime look all I had to do was switch out my jacket and shoe and then add a scarf to give it a little pop.  Leopard print is a HUGE trend for fall, so I also picked up this cute leopard print scarf from Nordstrom for only $19!  Scarves are such an easy and inexpensive way to add an accessory and a pop of pattern to a neutral outfit.

I know you guys remember this jacket from last year.  It is still one of my absolute favorites and I can't wait to start wearing it more once the temperatures cool down in Nashville a little bit.  So for this fun little date night outfit I already had the dress, shoes, and jacket, which means I literally was able to pull a date night look together for only $19.  If that is not winning, I really don't know what is.  It really is a lesson in the importance of picking out simple, classic staples for your wardrobe that you can wear season after season, year after year.
