YOUR FAIRY BRA MOTHER
Alright ladies, are we ready to talk about the girls? Recently one of my most asked questions is what bras and underwear do I like. Since we are all virtual best friends over here I figured no topic is off limits, so today I am spilling all my secrets about how I keep the girls looking good and the panty lines away. I headed to Nordstrom and picked out all of my favorites because no one wants to see photos of all my old, ratty bras and underwear. #yourwelcome There are several different brands that I really like. And for me, Nordstrom carries all my favorite brands. Plus, they do amazing bra fittings. Have you been professionally fitted for a bra before? If you haven't, you better head to the closest Nordstrom and get the girl's properly measured and fitted. The ladies in the lingerie department are expert bra fitters and they will totally hook you up with the right size. If you hate the way your undergarments look underneath your clothes, it is most likely because you are wearing the wrong size. Who knew!
Let's get down to the nitty-gritty, because I want to be as upfront with you guys as possible. Let's talk my sizes so you know what I am dealing with and works best based on my size. I typically wear a 34 C or D depending on the cut of the bra. As for underwear, I am a size small. Maybe knowing my sizes will help you judge what will work for you based on your sizing in comparison to mine. Here is another little secret you may want to know about me *if we are all going to be best friends* I only wear thongs and I am in a strapless bra 90% of the time. It's just the way I feel most comfortable.
ALL ABOUT THE UNDIES
We are going to get right down to business. The majority of the time I am wearing the Hanky Panky low-rise thong. And when I say the majority of the time, I am talking like 95% of the time. This has been my go to brand for forever and I love it. They fit great and are very comfortable, which is obviously a must if you are spending your days in a thong. They actually don't come in a size and are just sized as a one size fits most. I will say that they are a little pricey, but they hold up so well and are totally worth it. They come in a ton of colors and patterns, so there is definitely going to be something for everyone.
My other go to brand when it comes to underwear is Commando. This brand is exactly what its name implies and guarantees that you will not have a panty line. Visible pant lines are my pet peeve and if I am wearing something skin tight that I need to make sure you can't see a VPL, then my Commando's are what I grab. Just as a note on these, they are "raw edge" so the edge will look a little unfinished. Do not be alarmed, that is what allows them to lay so flat to the skin without creating the bulge or indent that normally causes a panty line. Now, I am going to be completely honest, I have never tried the two brief's I am showing; however, I do know that a thong is not for everyone so I did some research to find out the best choices out there. If you are looking for a bikini or brief that does not provide a panty line then the Commando would be one of the ways to go. The other option I am recommending I am doing so on the advice of others. I went in to my local store to do some underwear research for you guys (yes it's true love) and the ladies in the lingerie department said that these Chantelle Intimates Seamless Bikini Briefs are some of their best selling underwear. I figure these ladies know....and they are an AMAZING price point, so you might want to check them out.
THE VERY BEST BRAS
As I mentioned above, I wear a strapless bra most of the time. I don't like having bra straps showing and I am more comfortable in a strapless bra. I wear this particular bra most of the time. It does have an underwire in it, so it provides some support and lift, but it is still incredibly comfortable. I do not like any extra padding in my bras. This bra is perfect for me because it has no padding and I can just use my silicone nipple covers inside the bra to make sure you aren't able to gauge the temperature of the room when I walk in. *wink* I have this in both colors-nude and black.
My love for a good bandeau for wearing under maxi dresses or shirts with low arm holes is well documented. They are so easy to slide on and are SO comfortable to wear. If you are looking for something with support, these probably aren't for you because there is no underwire or structure to provide lift in these bras. I love the Nordstrom Bandeau and have several of them in black and I also love this Free People Lace Bandeau in black that I really like as well. The Nordstrom Bandeau does have removable pads and detachable straps, but the Free People Lace Bandeau offers no padding or straps.
If you are like "Landyn, the girls need straps", then don't worry I totally have you covered. This bra is my absolute favorite bra with straps. There are certain occasions when I want or need a little bit more support or comfort and this is my go-to bra in that situation. Natori makes some of the best bras on the market and while they are pricey, they are totally worth it. This particular bra, the "Pure Luxe" Underwire T-Shirt Bra has over 430 reviews on Nordstrom.com and 351 of them are 5 star reviews. I promise me and the other 351 people who have bought and reviewed this bra will not let you down!
This is my other favorite strapless bra that I own. The lace strapless shown above is kind of my go-to everyday bra, but it doesn't work in every situation. I wear this bra when I am wearing something a little more formfitting or where I need a smoother look under a shirt. It is lined, so it gives a little more coverage and keeps the headlights from showing through as easily. It also really holds everything up and in and doesn't slip at all, which is my number one pet peeve with strapless bras. If you are looking for one, all occasions strapless bra, then this is the one for you. It is an affordable option too at only $44. As an added bonus, it is fully convertible so you can wear it with strapless, with straps, as a halter, crossed or one shoulder. Lots of options.
Last but not least is one more bra with straps. This bra is the absolute best t-shirt bra that I have found. It is very similar to the black one, but it does not have the detailing on the straps that the black bra has. If you need a completely seamless, well-fitting bra that is going to be smoothing under shirts, then this is the bra you need to by. A cool feature that it has is a mesh leotard back which helps prevent bra bulge, because nobody has time for that!
UNDERNEATH IT ALL
