WHAT TO WEAR: CHRISTMAS DAY
Girls, what are we going to wear to our Christmas Eve or Christmas Day festivities? If we're not lucky enough to stay in our robe all day. Cause if you're getting dressed, more than likely there will be pictures taken that day and we want to look good for posterity's sake. We are a pretty casual family over here, so I'm typically looking for ways to dress up a pair of jeans. Today I have partnered with Sole Society to show you a great way to dress up a simple outfit that you could put together from pieces in your closet and then add some excitement with three simple accessories.
My whole theme for Christmas this year is simplicity and focusing on the real reason of Christmas and I wanted to extend that philosophy into my wardrobe as well. And it doesn't get much more simple than jeans and a white button down. But here is the thing, simple doesn't have to mean boring. The right accessories really do go a long way to making an outfit feel special without looking like we tried too hard.
JUST ADD A SCARF
I love the versatility of a scarf and all the different ways that you can wear them. I fell in love with this Aztec print, and chose to wear it as a wrap, but it would also work great worn as a blanket scarf too. Since I went with a simple outfit, I knew that my accessories were going to have to do a lot of the "work " for this outfit. That is why I love the really bold, graphic pattern of this scarf. It creates the visual interest of the outfit. As I side note, on the site this scarf reads black, but it is actually navy blue, almost denim like. And will be in my suitcase when we head to Miami in Feb. Hello beach cover up.
Sole Society is one of my favorite places to look when I need a scarf or a wrap. They always have a great selection. Below, I will post three of my other favorite scarves that they have right now. Also, don't panic if you still are looking for what to wear for Christmas or still have people on your list to buy for this year. If you order today and select 3 day shipping you will still have it in time for Christmas Eve. I'm right there with ya. I'm feeling waaaaaay behind this year.
GET YOUR BOOTS ON
I am loving the over-the-knee boot trend that has been going strong the past couple of years. They look really sexy without being over the top. You can dress them down like I did for daytime by pairing them with a pair of black jeans or you can dress them up with leggings or a skirt for a date night.
I like these boots for two reasons. First, they are loose at the top of the boot around the thigh and is a great alternative to the sock style over-the-knee boot that really hugs on your leg and can feel tight. Two, they have a side zipper which makes getting them on and off so much easier. There have been many times when I have had to lay on the bed and have Steve yank my boots off. I know you've been there. Ha!
Sole Society has so many great boot options this year, and here are two more of my favorites.
ALL ABOUT THE BAG
If you are traveling this year, you have to get this purse. Don't you love the fringe on the zippers and the size? It's what grabbed me initially. You can fit so much stuff in it and it has one big open section, so you could totally pack it full if you are flying and having to deal with the number of carry-on's you can bring. Not to mention you an wear it as a crossbody. It would also be perfect for work, because it is big enough for a laptop or notebook to easily fit inside. This bag can really go the distance and be used for more than just one occasion. In fact, if you are looking for a great weekender bag, you have got to check out Sole Society's selection. They have some really great weekender bags and they are all less than $100. I will show you a few that I'd carry below.
GREAT WEEKENDER BAGS
This bag is perfect for everyday use too, especially if you love an oversized purse like I do. And all of you moms out there will love it, because it would fit everything you need to schlep around on a daily basis including all the mystery items that end up in there. Like mouth guards, empty snack bags and some toy they INSISTED on bringing with. You feel me.
Well, no matter what you decided to wear on Christmas, I hope you have a wonderful day with those around you that you love. I'm sure looking forward to the down time and spending the holiday with my sweet family.
Xx
